Collegiate Peaks Campground is located 11 miles west of Buena Vista, Colorado, along Middle Cottonwood Creek near the top of Cottonwood Pass. The campground offers well-spaced campsites and scenic views of the surrounding mountains. Visitors enjoy fishing and exploring local trails. A commercial hot springs inn and spa is located about 5 miles east of the campground.
“First come, first served” does not necessarily mean that the site will be available when you get there. Someone may get there before you. This is a popular campground and is normally full starting on Friday, sometimes as early as Thursday, so plan accordingly.
Collegiate Peaks campground is heavily wooded with 56 campsites arranged along 3 loops. This campground offers visitors an opportunity for a quiet camping experience with plenty of space between campsites. The Middle Fork of Cottonwood Creek flows along the south side of the campground.
Nearby hiking trails include Ptarmigan Lake and the Denny Creek Trail. The Ptarmigan Lake trailhead is located about 2.75 miles west of Collegiate Peaks campground. Denny Creek is located 1 mile west of the campground and accesses the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness area.

Explore Park Campground near Roanoke Virginia provides primitive tent, electric hookup RV, cabin and yurt camping in a county run park. Operated by concessionaire the camping facilities opened in 2018 with additional amenities being added to the park as time progresses. Located along the Blue Ridge Parkway the campground provides a reasonably priced camping option in the area. Advanced reservations can be made online and are recommended.
The park has hiking and mountain biking trails, disc golf and horseback riding.

Pod Cabins: These unique arched roof structures pack lots of amenities into a small space. Contains a queen size bed with mattress (ground level) and full size loft bunk with mattress (requires climbing a ladder). Served by a nearby bathhouse. These units contain heating and air conditioning. A refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker are included. Linens are not included, but may be rented for an extra fee.
Yurts: Sleep up to six in a spacious 16 foot wide yurt. A private sink and toilet are included except when winterized December through March. These units are not heated. A refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker are included. Linens are not included, but may be rented for an extra fee. Sites D18, D19 & D21 contain a three-level double bunk bed. Site D14 contains one queen size bed.
RV Sites: Pull into a small site served by a nearby bathhouse. Electric only, no hookup. 50 amp service. Site dimensions are 12′ by 35′.
Fancy Gap Cabins and Campground, located 3.5 miles south of Fancy Gap, Virginia, is the place to stay and play on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have 13 full hookup RV back in and pull through sites, 5 tent sites with water and electric, 6 rustic, one-room cabins and 8 motel rooms. We have a bathhouse with 5 private, lockable bathrooms that includes showers. Free Wi-Fi is available at all of our sites and accomodations.
At Fancy Gap Cabins and Campground, you can relax and enjoy the mountain views or head out to sites like Mabry Mill and the Blue Ridge Music Center. Situated between mileposts 202 and 203 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the campground is near hiking, paddling, shopping and wineries. Motorcycles and groups are welcome. Retired and active military receive a 10 percent discount.
Devils Backbone Brewing Company RV Park and Campground in Roseland Virginia offers full hookup RV camping and tent camping on the grounds of the popular brewer. Accessible for any size RV the campground is scheduled to open in 2018 and promises to be a popular place to stay. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Shenandoah National Park the camping area is set in an open setting right next to the brew pub.
Clinch River Family Campground in Duffield Virginia offers full and partial hookup RV and tent camping in a scenic setting adjacent the namesake river. Located in a rural area surrounded by forest and mountains anglers and floater enjoy the river for recreation. Gravel roads and gravel backin pads with grass open areas and some shade trees.
Shenandoah Acres Family Campground in Stuarts Draft Virginia provides family friendly camping with options for full hookup and partial hookup RV and tent camping. Tucked up against the scenic mountains on the east side of the Shenandoah Valley the campground was re-opened and upgraded by new owners. Guests can enjoy the local area including access to the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway. An onsite lake for fishing. A mix of seasonal sites and short term sites. Dirt roads and campsites.
The large onsite lake and forest area are available to guests for daily enjoyment.
Chantilly Farm is a private campground and events venue with outdoor recreation amenities. Chantilly Farm is the perfect place to pitch your tent or park your RV. The stunning views from the farm make it a beautiful place to stay. Only 6 miles from the Town of Floyd and right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, there’s never a shortage of things to do.
Eastcreek Campground near Elba and Mineral Washington offers partial and primitive hookup RV and tent camping in a forested setting. Close to Mt Rainier at Mineral Lake the park can accommodate up to 45 foot RVs. tent sites have access to running water and showers are available for an additional fee. open seasonally.
Williamsburg Campark in Williamsburg Virginia offers full and partial hookup RV sites in an open field like setting on mowed grass. Tent sites and small RV sites are situated in a wooded section off the back.
Cedar Cove Campground in Dublin Virginia offers full hookup RV sites for short and seasonal stays. Shaded and open sites. Park is adjacent to Claytor Lake State Park.
Roanoke Mountain Campground in Roanoke Virginia is located at Milepost 120.4 on the Blue Ridge Highway. The campground offer sprimitive tent and RV camping on a first come first served basis. Facilities include water, comfort stations with flush toilets and sinks but no showers or hook-ups.
Cave Mountain Lake Family Campground in Natural Bridge Virginia is a US Forest Service campground nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, offering a rustic and peaceful camping getaway. Easy interstate access, close proximity to historic Lexington and access to Natural Bridge make Cave Mountain Lake an ideal spot. Offers primitive tent and RV camping in a wooded setting. Amenities at each campsite include a picnic table, lantern post and campfire ring with grill. Flush toilets and water spigots are located throughout the campground.
Otter Creek Campground near Monroe Virginia offers primitive (no water, electric, or sewer) hookups in a wooded setting along the Blue Ridge Highway Milepost 61. 45 tents and 24 RV trailers. Facilities currently include water, comfort stations with flush toilets and sinks but no showers or hook-ups. Area hikes include: Trail of Trees, Otter Creek, Otter Lake Loop and James River Canal Trails. Near the lowest elevation point along the parkway (649 ft).
Chopawamsic Backcountry Area Campsites in Prince William Forest Park near Triangle Virginia (Dumfries) offers 8 hike in primitive tent sites situated along a 2 mile hiking trail. Managed by the National Park Service these campsites are free to use but do require a back-country permit.
Oak Ridge Campground in Triangle (Dumfries) Virginia is a 100-site, wooded campground located in Prince William Forest Park (National Park), 35 miles southwest of Washington, DC. No hookups for any of the sites the campground is open seasonally with reservations required through Recreation.gov. Excellent hiking and biking in the park.
Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in Broadway Virginia offers full hookup RV and tent camping convenient to the Shenandoah Valley attractions.
